HR & Recruitment Manager – Seasonal - FTC

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Travelopia as a ‘HR & Recruitment Manager – Seasonal’ on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract to cover maternity leave.

We are the only collection of travel brands of this kind in the world – our portfolio is exclusively focused on specialist travel. This vacancy is within the People team of the Education sector. The Education brands deliver trips to children and young adults as part of their school education including UK based residentials, curricular and sports-based tours, ski trips and global expeditions for children from schools in the UK & Australia.

Our People Team manages the full employee lifecycle for our seasonal teams – We recruit high volumes to cover our operation requirements, this includes teams working a winter ski season in the alps with Skibound, working a summer season in Northern France with Travelbound and running activities at our JCA flagship activity centre, Condover Hall in Shropshire, UK.

This role leads a small team to deliver the day-to-day administration and generalist duties of the operation, issuing employment contracts, completing DBS checks, and following the right to work processes. As HR & Recruitment Manager, you will oversee and organise all elements of our recruitment campaigns – From planning headcounts for each campaign with brand managers and ensuring that safe and fair recruitment practices are followed to submitting monthly payroll for seasonal employees and answering employee relation queries.

Responsibilities include:

  • Take the lead in recruitment campaign planning and implementation: including confirming headcounts with managers, understanding job descriptions, advertising across website and job boards, planning recruitment methods and ensure fair recruitment practices are being followed
  • Manage the agreed recruitment budget over 12 months including: sourcing free advertising tools and managing annual subscriptions with job boards and pull data from applicant trackers when required to inform future decisions on advertising spend
  • Research and build relationships with agencies where necessary and colleges/ universities, careers events etc.
  • Day to day team management of recruiters and HR team members
  • Act as a point of contact for all seasonal recruitment issues and matters
  • Oversee all aspects of onboarding – UK and French right to work, French work permits and visas, bonds, contracts via DocuSign, DBS checks, references, medical declarations, staff travel and on-boarding communications
  • Handle confidential information and safely use the internal HR system, Atlas, to terminate employees, make contract changes etc.
  • Work closely with stakeholders/ brand managers to determine headcount requirements at the start of the season and stay in regular contact as the season starts to understand any changes to requirements
  • Provide HR generalist support including general queries, issuing letters for updates including probation, probation and disciplinary outcomes. Manage the issuing of contracts and contract amendment letters via Adobe Sign,
  • Collate and submit seasonal payroll monthly including new starters, amendments and leavers
  • Manage the social media accounts for Skibound, Travelbound and JCA recruitment
  • Manage the Get Up & Go Jobs website with up-to-date job roles, new imagery and content
  • Complete the monthly check of the seasonal payroll dummy run, action any errors and collaborate with the central HR team and payroll team where needed
  • Manage the seasonal staff placements process to ensure that current staff under future opportunities with our other brands of further in Travelopia
  • Provide recruitment training to colleagues and stake holders when required

 

What we are looking for:

  • Previous HR or Recruitment management experience – We wouldn’t expect you to have done an identical role before, but experience of high-volume and/ or seasonal recruitment is desirable
  • Previous work experience in the travel industry is a bonus
  • CIPD qualification is a bonus but not essential
  • Payroll experience is desirable
  • A great communicator – You’ll need to be confident in leading your team, speaking with employees over the phone and dealing with company stakeholders
  • Happy to work towards deadlines and manage time effectively as our seasonal campaigns run to set start dates over the year
