Activity InstructorJCA United Kingdom
What will I be doing?
Our Activity Instructor jobs offer the chance for staff to teach a variety of indoor and outdoor activities to our school groups who come to stay with us. There are a variety of instructor roles based in the UK that include rock climbing instructors, watersports instructors and sailing instructor jobs.
Some of the other adventure activities you will be teaching include fencing, high ropes, archery, blind trails, laser quest and organising events in the evenings for our group. Unlike many of our competitors you are only required to work 5 days a week. Some of our centres can even offer you the weekends off!
You will receive 3 weeks of free comprehensive training which will equip you with the skills to confidently and safely be the group leader on these activities.
What are we looking for?
- Passion for working with children
- Enjoys working outdoors
As an Activity Instructor you will be the face of JCA and will often be the first person our guests meet when arriving at our centres. Great customer service skills and passion for the industry are key.
No specific qualifications are required for this role, we are looking for someone who enjoys working with children, enthusiastic and a get up and go attitude to take on group leader jobs during their time with us.
Get Up & Go Jobs have multiple residential locations across the UK. As these instructor jobs are live in roles you will need to be comfortable with living away from home, we encourage a friendly, social atmosphere in our centres – a lot of our staff who have worked for us have made life long friends!
I’ve been working for JCA for almost two years as an Activity Instructor. I started out as an apprentice in my first year then I came back for my second season as a returner.
Favourite part of the instructor job
One of my favourite parts of the job is pretty cheesy but it has to be all the people you meet. You make so many incredible friends that become your family.
Best work memory
My favourite work memory, and most people will agree is the training. When you’re in training everyone is in the same boat learning new things, in a new place, with people you’ve never met before. It’s a chance to be the person you want to be!
Why you should join JCA
If you want a new challenge or want to learn new things, meet some new people or even just work outdoors then there’s nothing stopping you. Here at JCA you will get a new challenge everyday. You will learn so much more about yourself and the things you can do.
What do you do during your time off?
Since we all live under one roof it’s easy to get together and plan our days off. Things as easy as going to town for some food or shopping which is only just a bus or taxi away, or even a long weekend in London watching the American Football! One of the best things I like to do is go to Long Mynd for a walk. Sometimes we’re too lazy to move so we all gather in one room and have a movie day in our blankets. Guaranteed we’ll most likely fall asleep but that’s the best part!
What qualities do you need to work a season?
There are a few qualities you need if you’re going to work a season as an instructor. If you’re an outgoing, approachable and confident person who enjoys outdoors jobs then you’ll fit in just fine here at JCA.
