Retail and Bar AssistantJCA UK - Condover Hall
We are looking for a full-time Retail and Bar Assistant to join our vibrant team at our flagship Activity Centre, Condover Hall which is based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. This is a seasonal vacancy from February 2020 to November 2020, with the option of returning for the same dates each year.
What will I be doing?
As a Retail and Bar Assistant you will work in our onsite gift shop and bar, some of your duties will include:
- Physical tasks such as putting away deliveries, lifting and moving sometimes heavy boxes of drinks and mechanise and being on your feet for a large part of the day including using stairs
- Serving customers
- Performing weekly stock checks
- Ensuring all health and safety procedures are effectively carried out
We are looking for someone is:
- Enjoys working individually but is also confident as part of a wider team
- Has great customer service skills
- Flexible to accommodate varying shift times including evenings and weekends
- Enjoys working with children
We are looking for someone who has a passion for customer service and a can-do attitude. You must be able to work under your own initiative and have a keen eye for detail. This is a fantastic role for someone who is looking to pursue a career in customer service.
Proven experience in a similar position is desirable but not essential. Full training is provided!
I have worked as a Retail Assistant in the Gift shop for a month now. The role also involves working in the convenienc store where children can buy snacks and drinks as opposed to the gift shop which also sells Condover and JCA memorabilia. There is also the opportunity to work in the Orangery Bar.
Favourite part of the job
My Favourite part of the job is interacting with the children who visit Condover hall. I also like restocking the gift shop and convenience store because it is based in the beautiful Condover mansion.

What qualities do you need to work a season?
To work as a retail assistant for a season you need to be positive and willing to help. You will need to be able to interact with the children and teachers when they come to the gift shop, convenience shop and the bar as this will all contribute to the impression that they have of the experience at Condover Hall. You have to be organised and have good time management. Also, it helps if you can match the enthusiasm of the children!
