Hotel Manager - Winter Ski 17/18

What will I be doing?


You will be responsible for the day to day running of the hotel and also providing support to all other department colleagues. As the Hotel Manager you will be accountable for ensuring that high levels of customer service are maintained at all times by providing staff training, implementing staff rotas, tasks and duties across your team. You will also be responsible for conducting disciplinary procedures and following company policies and procedures.

You will need to manage staff welfare including accommodation, meals and payroll. In addition to this you will be ensuring that stock takes and accounts are accurate by liaising with department managers (i.e. Head Chef) and suppliers.

You will be required to have a good level of commercial awareness and have the ability to maximise revenue in all areas of the hotel whilst adhering to budgets at all times. You will have control of all operating costs within the hotel ensuring safe handling of all monies taken on behalf of the company.

Understanding company procedures and working within operational guidelines is essential and you will need to comply with administrative information required by local authorities or the company.
High standards must be maintained and monitored regularly and the implementation of an effective maintenance schedule, safe working environment, food and hygiene standards and making sure that all fire detection and equipment is in full working order within the hotel is crucial.

We are looking for someone with previous management experience within the hospitality industry. You will need to be an effective team manager through leading by example, motivating your team and having high levels of enthusiasm and passion for achieving results.  You will need to have excellent time management skills, the ability to work under pressure and manage a high work load whilst ensuring that customer satisfaction is achieved across all departments.

About me

Having completed 2 seasons with SkiBound as a ClubHotel Manager I been fortunate enough to have the chance to also work in the UK office in Brighton during the interseason to assist and gain knowledge working directly with the HR and Seasonal Recruitment Team.

Favourite part of the job

My favourite part of this role is getting to work across all aspects of the hotel. From serving meals to building bunkbeds no task is beneath me. Every day brings fresh challenges. The ClubHotel environment is like no other hotel. The team energy and dedication staff show to the operation is second to none, everyone bends over backwards to get the job done.

Best work memory

New Year 15/16 we had a midnight buffet for guests due to arrive back at the hotel just after midnight. Being one of only a few of our team that was working it wasn’t the ideal way to spend our New Year however at 23:50 in true seasonaire comradery our entire team surprised us by bursting through the door and bringing in the new year as a team. Was a lovely memory!

Why should you join Skibound

I love a challenge and hate being bored which is why this job suits me so well. I am not afraid of getting my hands dirty and to be given the ability to do it with an amazing group of people in an idyllic setting. You won’t earn your fortune doing this job but you can’t put a price on extrodinary experiences.

What do you do during your time off?

Having never skied prior to joining SkiBound so I am still perfecting my ski ability. I try to get out on the mountain as much as possible, however I do tend to enjoy the restaurants on the slopes more than the skiing. One of my favourite things to do in resort is swimming in the heated outdoor pool when it’s snowing. It’s an experience like no other.

What qualities do you need to work a season?

Being a Seasonaire is about being part of a family. Supporting each other through the long hard days at work and dragging each other out for après. A work/life balance is essential, true Seasonaires know not to burn the candle at both ends. Don’t underestimate the skills you will learn as a Seasonaire, once you have worked a season any other ‘normal job’ is boring. Be warned it’s addictive!
