We are looking for…
- Someone who is all about the customer
- Confident and responsible – you’ll need to be able to deal with whatever comes your way
- A natural born leader
- Energetic (don’t forget you’ll be working with kids!) and able to make sure our guests are having the time of their lives.
Not forgetting the formal bits!
A passion for skiing and resort life is key and you will also need to have experience in a face to face customer service role.
I am 24 years old and about to embark on my 3rd winter season working as a Resort Representative. Having finished university studying international tourism management I wanted to get some experience working abroad and in the hospitality/tourism industry so I decided to do a Ski season and combine my passion of skiing and the mountains.
Favourite Part of the Job
Being able to utilise my mountain knowledge and share my passion of the mountains to the school groups I work with is my favourite part of the role. I love seeing their excitement when they see the mountains for the first time, hearing about their first lessons and swapping stories from when I first started skiing. I love being responsible for adding to their experience in booking and organising extra activities from ice-skating to ski lessons.
The jobs is hard work but I love that once you have completed you duties there is plenty of time to enjoy mountain time, which I take advantage off on a daily basis. This definitely adds to the enjoyment of the job.
Best work memory
There have been so many memories over the past couple of years, from awesome days on the mountains, to staff do’s and memorable work days –both good and bad.
Working on Christmas the last couple of years has to be one of my favourite memories and day within the season. you all come together as team and make the most of the day. Being able to get out for a ski on Christmas day, all dressed in Santa onies-even if it’s just for a quick hour is amazing!! After a working on Christmas we always have our staff Christmas party and meal to celebrate together. Everyone is on a high, really supportive of each other and it’s a really feel good day.
The amazing memories and friends I have made during my season is something that will stay with me forever!
What do you do during your time off ?
I am a keen skier and snowboarder so I make full use of the mountains on my days off, whether this heading over to my favourite pistes or exploring new areas of the resort and beyond. I often upgrade my pass on my days off so I get to take advantage of the bigger areas. There are plenty of apres activities in resort which we take full advantage off.
What qualities do you need to work a season?
I would say, enthusiasm, dedication and willingness to learn are key for being successful during the season. I have found that the more work you put in, the more opportunity you have to take advantage of the mountains.
