Summer MaintenanceSkiBound France
What will I be doing?
Working under the guidance of the company maintenance manager your transport to the alps, accommodation, materials and food are all included as part of the package you receive. You will be required to bring a basic set of handtools and cordless drill/screwdriver… suitable for the type of work you will be undertaking. Larger more specialist tools will be provided or hired as required by our maintenance manager.
The opportunity to experience this stunning destination will see you working a 5 day week Monday to Friday, weekends at your Leisure to experience the alpes at their summer best, often high 30degrees. You might also want to enjoy some of the activities of the alps ranging from walking to golf to downhill mountain biking as basic examples.
The work load and specific projects require a high level of detail particularly with regards to local legislation. We therefore require people who have a qualification in either carpentry, electrics, plumbing or decorating. While practising your particular trade you will also need to demonstrate a high level of flexibility to assist in the many general maintenance requirements that will come up.
What are you looking for?
- Proven experience in a maintenance trade
- Able to work independently
- Flexible, friendly and efficient manner
We require self-motivated, dedicated and committed people for this opportunity.
The maintenance program runs from approximately the 20th April to end of October depending on progression. You will have the chance to return to the UK for two specific weeks in July if you so require.
Favourite part of the job
I enjoy the flexibility of my role, I make myself available when required for emergencies and am happy to help out in other roles, on the bar, in the kitchen, on reception, snow clearing and in particular on change over day when the hotels are being prepared for new guests.
Best work memory
I have so many memories from my time at Skibound, meeting, working, skiing and socialising with people from a variety of different backgrounds. My favourite memory occurs most days when I look up into the mountains and see where I live and work.
Why you should join Skibound
For me joining Skibound is a lifestyle, the job bit of the role facilitates what I really want to do, spending as much time as possible on the mountain in a fantastic location.
What do you do during your time off?
I make the most of my time off, the majority is spent on the mountain, there is always someone to ski or board with. I have regular visits from family and friends who travel to resort independently or take advantage of the Skibound ski deals throughout the season. When the slopes close I try to keep up my fitness by running, walking, cycling and using the gym, swimming pool and leisure facilities in the resort.
What qualities do you need to work a season?
I initially thought that I may not fit the profile of a seasonaire, however, I have discovered there is not a typical Seasonaire and anyone can fit into the role. What you need is, the right mind-set, to be flexible in your role, work with and support others and not be afraid of a bit of hard work or long hours. You will get plenty of time for yourself, it is as important to use that time wisely as the season is over before you know it.
