Summer Maintenance - SkiBound

"I took up a seasonal position as a handy person with Skibound and have never looked back"
Favourite part of the job

I enjoy the flexibility of my role, I make myself available when required for emergencies and am happy to help out in other roles, on the bar, in the kitchen, on reception, snow clearing and in particular on change over day when the hotels are being prepared for new guests.

Best work memory

I have so many memories from my time at Skibound, meeting, working, skiing and socialising with people from a variety of different backgrounds. My favourite memory occurs most days when I look up into the mountains and see where I live and work.

Why you should join Skibound

For me joining Skibound is a lifestyle, the job bit of the role facilitates what I really want to do, spending as much time as possible on the mountain in a fantastic location.

What do you do during your time off?

I make the most of my time off, the majority is spent on the mountain, there is always someone to ski or board with. I have regular visits from family and friends who travel to resort independently or take advantage of the Skibound ski deals throughout the season. When the slopes close I try to keep up my fitness by running, walking, cycling and using the gym, swimming pool and leisure facilities in the resort.

What qualities do you need to work a season?

I initially thought that I may not fit the profile of a seasonaire, however, I have discovered there is not a typical Seasonaire and anyone can fit into the role. What you need is, the right mind-set, to be flexible in your role, work with and support others and not be afraid of a bit of hard work or long hours. You will get plenty of time for yourself, it is as important to use that time wisely as the season is over before you know it.
